The Dynasty Shall Resume
One god blessed the royal dynasty of the Empire of Ywarath with the Prophecy of Life and Death; and the other one cursed the bloodline with short-life span and infertility. Azy is the last heir of the Ywarath and the Prophecy, whose life is predestined to end before another heir can take their place due to the curse. Until God of Life refused to take Azy's life when the time in the name of maintaining order, despite the opposition of Goddess of Death.
This contrariety between Gods of Ywarath, leads to their inevitable clash. Resulting in their existence trapped in the weapon of Goddess of Death, which falls to the human realm from the Limbonarium along with Azy. The heroic heir, wakes up from the fall towards the human realm, finding the Relic in the cavity created by the Gods' crash. Hearing godly voices radiating from the Relic upon picking it up, Azy now walks the path the voices forged, towards a temple that will bring an end to the gods' conflict.
Proceeding With the Dilemma
Burden of Kin is a puzzle & action RPG with a linear third-person gameplay. The game is based on mechanics that will require you balance the Lifestream around you to solve puzzles in an explorable environment. With the mighty abilities of two gods, Azy will have options to proceed in the adventure of finishing this notorious conflict.
This dilemma also resembles itself to the scythe as it does have two abilities: The sharp head part of the scythe represents the Godess of Death and gives the ability to take souls to Azy. The wand bottom part represents the God of Life, that grants the ability to restore souls to Azy. With this, Azy shall decide on the morale of the situation and shall get through of this adeventure.
Gameplay and the Concept
Elpis is mostly a puzzle and adventure game where the player must use the main resource aka. souls, to advance through the map. The game has a linear gameplay where the player should follow a path and solve puzzles one by one. It also is a relatively fast pace game where the player needs to use sliding and elevation mechanics to proceed to the next part of the map.
The game also features combat and simple combo mechanics against both aggressive and non aggressive entities in order to get their Souls to use on the puzzle. There are also some aggressive entities that doesnt contain any Souls yet since they are aggressive, they may need to get slained for player to tackle the puzzle properly.
Controls
- Right click creates a zoomed shoulder cam putting the character into healing mode. Releasing the healing mode will heal the targeted entity or level element if there is any. Left click is for attacking. Extra presses will create a combo action.
- Holding the left click will initiate a charging attack. If this attack will act as a "last hit" to an entity, an extra speed boost will be initiated for the player to use.
- On ground: WASD for movement and Space key for jumping.
- Mouse movement for looking around and moving along with TPS mode.
- E key to interact if there is an interactable object around
- Flying: WASD for movement, Space key to gain altitude and Ctrl key to lose altitude.
- V key for desaturation mode
